PURPOSE OF THE POST:
To work as a member of the programme team providing services to
children and families within the catchment area. The post holder will
be responsible for the provision of an occupational therapy assistant
services to include service delivery to children with a range of
disabilities, who’s families we work with in the service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* QQI Level 5 major award in a relevant qualification in childcare,
physiotherapy/occupational therapy assistant, therapy assistant or
equivalent health services skills.
* Graduates in social and health care professions working towards
graduate entry HSCP courses.
* At least one year’s proven experience of working with children
and/or adults with disabilities
* Good interpersonal skills and an enthusiastic and flexible
attitude to work
* Computer literacy
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Desirable:
* Physiotherapy Assistant Level 5 QQI module /Occupational therapy
assistant equivalent
PURPOSE OF THE POST
The successful candidate will work as part of a cross functional team
and also work independently under the guidance and supervision of a
Senior Occupational therapist who will act as their supervisor.
The work may include assistance with assessments, interventions and
preparation of resources and some administrative tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Carry out treatment programmes and interventions and support with
children and families.
* Assist with group activities as requested.
* Demonstrate clients needs and help to motivate and involve them in
programmes
* Demonstrate knowledge of behavioural needs and respond
appropriately in challenging situation including reporting to
supervisor.
* Assisting children into and out of various pieces of equipment
such as standers, walkers etc within the special school setting.
* Always work under supervision or instruction of Supervisor when
working with client.
GENERAL/ADMINISTRATIVE:
* Cleaning of equipment, as per departmental and infection control
protocols.
* Maintain and order therapy resource and consumable supplies as
directed by supervisor.
* Record keeping and statistic entry as required according to
organisation’s guidelines/policies
* Administrative duties as required by organisation
* Observe confidentiality according to GDPR guidelines
* Communicate effectively and appropriately with a range of
different service users and colleagues.
* Attend departmental meetings /education as required.
Reliability and a flexible approach essential for position.
Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner throughout the
course of one’s duties.
To undertake such other duties and responsibilities, appropriate to
the post.
